Writing the introduction
The introduction for a comparative analysis is similar to most introductions. Yet you might need to adjust.
- You start with a catchphrase/ a hook. In the case of a comparative synthesis, you need to identify the common topic and go from there.
- The common topic is a way to do a dynamic presentation of the documents. You must avoid the traditional « Document A is the magazine cover of Timely Comics (1941) and document B is an article entitled « A Hero for a war » written by Donelly in 2015. »
- An example of a dynamic presentation of documents can be : « Captain America has been created in order to enlist Americans to win the war against Nazism. In our study, art and literature are used as a medium used to achieve this aim. Donelly’s article entitled « A Hero for a War » (2015) explains the illustration of the magazine of Timely Comics published in 1941. Meanwhile, the documentary (document C) features the thriller of a modern version of Captain America movie and develops … Consequently, we may wonder (problematic). To do so, we’ll first explore … then analyse … and finally develop … »
- Then in the same flux, put forward the central issue and announce the plan.
- Do the adjustments you think fit. It’s your work. BE CREATIVE!
